Hard to Believe It's Episode Nine

The conversation naturally drifts to the weather, which has been unusually mild in Delaware, with Denise describing near-summer conditions and temperatures in the 70s, even as the last of the winter snow finally clears.
Celebrating a Different New Year

As a member of the Baháʼí faith, her New Year falls on the first day of spring, rather than January 1st — and it's preceded by a month of fasting for those under the age of 70. Denise shares that her husband, despite having passed that age threshold, has chosen to continue fasting anyway, not quite ready to let the tradition go.
Weather on Both Sides of the Pond
Meanwhile, across in the UK, Les describes considerably less pleasant conditions — persistent rain and clay-heavy soil in her garden that simply won't drain, a combination that has delayed the build of a garden cabin she'd been planning to move into. It's a lighthearted moment in the episode, with a bit of gentle ribbing about rainy Manchester stereotypes along the way, before the conversation turns to the fact that some of that very rain appeared to be heading toward Denise's side of the world next.
